How it all began

It began way back in 1998 with the registration of wotson.net. The word Wotson was registered as a trademark in 2001. Wotson typed in any search engine usually returns a number one slot in every global search engine or directory.

During 2001 and 2004 the following domains were registered through the payment of premium fees.

wotson.co.uk, wotson.com, wotson.biz, wotson.info, wotson.org, wotson.eu and wotson.tv.

Wotson is recognised in the UK as an online directory promoting Clothing and Accessories, Food and Drink, Health and Beauty, Household Goods, Leisure, Services and Useful Phone Numbers. It was also recognised as 'The WOTSON Pocket Directory', a local printed directory with 50,000 copies for each local area it covered between 2003 and 2006. Since 2006 the business has been on hold, the online directory remains. We also register domains and host websites.

A European Venture

When the .EU domains were launched, it was a lengthy process to register the Wotson domain. Proof of trademark, proof of identity in the EU, and disputes between competing companies, leading to newspaper articles and stand offs. But we prevailed in the end.

Unfortunately, the .EU domain has not had an opportunity to be realised, and whether it will find a useful niche for business is difficult to assess. It seems many of the the users of .EU are governmental bodies or just companies that couldn't get the proper TLD to begin with.

If you are going to run a business in the United Kingdom with any semblance of respect, you have to have a .CO.UK domain name for your business. It doesn't matter if you don't show it on your website, it just has to be yours. Forward it to your .COM if you want, but as long as it is yours and it goes to the place people want to go to, your local customer will be happy knowing you are; here, next door, next county, but definately - here, where they can relate to you.

What started off as a serious attempt to offer for sale the Wotson family jewels, suddenly has me reminiscing, (better look that up - huhum!), about what has been achieved over the last twelve years, well fifteen if I include the three years learning about the Internet from 1996. My doesn't time fly!

Suffice to say when these babies were born I picked them up and put them straight into the cot with the rest of the kids and let Godfather Wotson .COM oversee them. You may have some idea what to do with them but you won't get them separately - It's all or nothing!
